Cisco continues to make strong investments in its certification and training program to meet the growing demand for skilled and qualified networking professionals. To facilitate growth, maintain competitiveness, and standardize exam pricing, Cisco is adjusting prices of the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching composite exam, the ICND1 and ICND2 entry-level and associate exams, and the CCDA exam.

Launch date: January 15, 2012 at 3:00 PM (U.S. Pacific Standard Time)

Exam Pricing Update and Key Changes

1.     The price of CCNA Routing and Switching composite (640-802 CCNA) exam will be standardized globally from $250 USD to $295 USD.
2.     CCNA Security (640-553 IINS), Wireless (640-721 IUWNE), Voice (640-461 ICOMM), and Service Provider Operation (640-760 SSPO) exam prices will remain unchanged, at $250 USD.
3.     The price of the entry level ICND1 (640-822 ICND1) exam and associate level ICND2 (640-816 ICND2) exam will be standardized globally from $125 USD to $150 USD.
4.     The price of the CCDA (640-864 DESGN) exam will be standardized globally from $150 to $200 USD.

Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, network professional demonstrates the skills required for entry-level network support positions – the starting point for many successful careers in networking. The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.

640-822 ICND1 (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1)

CCENT Recertification

CCENT certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following exams before the certification expiration date:

  1. Pass the current ICND1 exam, or
  2. Pass the current ICND2 exam , or
  3. Pass the current CCNA exam, or
  4. Pass any current CCNA Concentration exam (wireless, or security, or voice, or SP Ops), or
  5. Pass any current 642-XXX professional level exam, or
  6. Pass any current Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams or MeetingPlace Specialist exams or Implementing Cisco Telepresence Installations [ITI] exams), or
  7. Pass any current CCIE Written Exam, or
  8. Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or
  9. Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications
