Effective October 19th, 2010, Cisco announced upgrades to the Cisco Voice Certification Track.  These upgrades force the candidate to test on the enhancements being made to the convergence of data and voice on the network reflected in Unified Communications v8.0.

There was a refresh to the current CCNA Voice certification that confirms an individual has the skill set for job roles in the Cisco voice path to include Voice Administrator, Voice Technician, etc.  The refreshed version of the certification includes a course titled “Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Administration (ICOMM) v8.0″ and the corresponding exam ICOMM #640-461.  This new exam will replace the previous IIUC #640-460 and CVOICE #642-436.  The last day to test using the previous exams is February 28, 2011.

A major revision was also to the professional level voice certification, CCVP.  Moving forward the certification’s new name will now be CCNP Voice.

The CCNP Voice curriculum will now cover:

  3. Quality of Service (QoS)
  4. Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
  5. Cisco Unity Express (CUE)

Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) validates advance knowledge and skills required to integrate into underlying network architectures. Furthermore, this certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network.
